58-year-old man jumps from rooftop to flee arrest in Silver Spring

Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged a 58-year-old man in connection with a series of burglaries that occurred in the 1200 block of Spring Street in Silver Spring.

At around 1:56 p.m., on Monday, May 25, officers were dispatched to the Montgomery County Garage facilities office in the 1200 block of Silver Spring Street for reports of an earlier burglary. 

During their investigation, officers discovered Ademu Cummings entering the office multiple times during the overnight hours from Saturday, May 23 to Tuesday, May 26. 

On Wednesday, June 8, officers obtained an arrest warrant for Cummings. They charged him with burglary and other related offenses. 

According to reports, on June 9, officers located Cummings in the area of the 800 block of Roeder Roadand and attempted to arrest him. Officials say while approaching Cummings, he jumped from a rooftop.

Officers state he was eventually found and arrested without further incident in the 8700 block of Colesville Road. 

Cummings was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment of the injuries caused by his jump from the rooftop. 

He has been served his arrest warrant and is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
