Albornoz: ‘I Respect the Decision of Police Presence in Schools’ Under New Program

Council President Gabe Albornoz said during his press briefing on Monday “he has respect, faith and trust in MCPS Superintendent and leaders decision” to implement the “CEO 2.0” Community Engagement Officer program.

Under the proposed updated model, CEOs would have designated work stations at high schools, but would not be permanently stationed there. Students said the solution to preventing school violence is not more police presence.

Albornoz said that he is alarmed by the severity of the recent violent cases in schools and also “understands that this is a difficult but important decision to make”.
