Albornoz on Trump’s Motorcade Ride: ‘Irresponsible’; ‘Totally Tone Deaf’

President Trump’s discharge from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center came Monday evening, after being treated extensively for COVID-19 symptoms over the weekend.

Prior to the President’s discharge, MyMCMedia spoke with Montgomery County Councilmember Gabe Albornoz about Trump’s health, his reaction to contracting COVID-19 and his decision to ride in a motorcade outside Walter Reed on Sunday to wave to his supporters..

“I do think it was incredibly irresponsible for the President to put his own security and staff at risk, and totally tone-deaf,” Albornoz said.

Trump, who was airlifted to Walter Reed last Friday before leaving Monday evening, announced in a Tweet early Friday morning that he and the First Lady had contracted the virus . That announcement came after the President had potentially exposed many of his staff and others to the virus earlier in the week.

Albornoz made it clear that he understands the President’s desire to show strength, and tell the world he is beating COVID-19. But Albornoz believes that not only was it wrong for the President to risk his staff, it was irresponsible for the President to risk himself. “I mean, you are the President of the United States.”

President Trump is quarantining within the White House residence while he recovers from the virus.
