Friday, April 5

Bethesda Film Fest: The 12h annual film festival features five short documentaries by local filmmakers at two screenings, Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6 at 7 p.m. The screenings will take place at Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema, located at 7235 Woodmont Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Bethesda Film Fest Showcases Local Filmmakers

NextGen 11.0 Art Exhibit: VisArts in Rockville’s annual exhibit showcases next generation aspiring artists, ages 17 to 27, from the Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC area. The exhibit opens Friday, March 22 and runs through May 12 in the Gibbs Street Gallery. Free. Gallery hours are Wednesday-Thursday from noon to 4 p.m., Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. VisArts is located at 155 Gibbs Street, an easy walk from the Rockville Metro station. Family Storytime: A storytime experience for children and their adults on Friday, April 5 at 11:15 a.m. at the Wheaton Library. The session is designed to introduce children to the culture of reading with books, songs, rhymes and fun activities. Saturday, April 6

Job Fair:  Montgomery County Recreation is hiring part-time employees to work during the summer season. Available positions include camp directors, assistant directors, camp counselors, lifeguards and more. There are two job fairs scheduled for today to learn about and apply for a seasonal position. The first takes place from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Bauer Drive Recreation Center located at 14625 Bauer Drive in Rockville. The second takes place at the East County Recreation Center from 3-5:30 p.m. which is located at 3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring. For more information, click here.

Spring Eye Spy Trains: Montgomery Parks two miniature trains are now open on weekends in April with a spring-theme. Each rider is given an “Eye Spy” card with items to look for during the ride. The miniature trains run through the woods of Cabin John Regional Park and Wheaton Regional Park. The $5 spring rides are offered weekends in April. For more information, click here.

Self-Care Blooms Here Pop-Up Show: Three woman-owned businesses host this unique pop-up event focused on self-care Saturday, April 6 at the Exhilaration Space in Rockville from noon-5 p.m. Shop for journals, herbal teas, athleisure clothes, candles, body care, make-up brushes, sweet treats, jewelry and more. Participate in a breathwork meditation workshop, create a floral bouquet at the Bloom Bar, take an aura photography snapshot and Bravos Beauty will man a free lash strip station. Sunday, April 7

Mr. Jon & Friends: Mr. Jon uses rhymes, songs, books and puppets for a musical comedy show for young children and their adults, Sunday, April 7 at Davis Library from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Free. Davis Library is located in Bethesda at 6400 Democracy Boulevard. For more information, click here.

Sunday Serenade: Montgomery Parks hosts four outdoor concerts on Sundays this Spring in Cabin John Regional Park in Bethesda. The series features local bands that perform at the amphitheater from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Attendees may want to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics to the concert. Ella’s Bake Shop will be on-site selling breakfast items and coffee. Free, no registration necessary. Cabin John Regional Park is located at 7400 Tuckerman Lane in Bethesda. Cultural Heritage Concert Series: The county hosts a series of four concerts during April to promote an understanding of diverse cultures. Today’s concert features Arab American and Scottish American performers and takes place at the Gwendolyn E. Coffield Community Recreation Center Sunday, April 7 at 2 p.m. Performing Artists: Fuad Foty and MacMillan Pipe Band. Free and appropriate for all ages.
