Bethesda adds pre-professional men’s soccer team

Soccer has long been a mainstay sport in Montgomery County. Bethesda Soccer Club is one of the organizations that has been home to countless players and teams since it started in 1979. Now, the club is taking its development of players one step further. The club is establishing a pre-professional Bethesda men’s team that will compete in the United Soccer League Two this summer.

“This is a defining moment for our club and our community,” said Jonathan Colton, Executive Director of BSC. “Our goal is to provide a top-level platform for BSC to develop players beyond our youth system.”

The addition of a USL Two team allows Bethesda based players to grow within the club from youth through pre-professional competition. Pierre Dyer, a current Bethesda MLS NEXT coach and former player, will manage and coach the new team.

USL Two is a primary development platform for collegiate and top-level amateur players to compete during the summer while maintaining NCAA eligibility

Home matches are set to begin in May 2026, hosted at the Maryland Soccerplex Stadium.
