Bethesda Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Allegedly Stabbing His Parents

Police said a Bethesda man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder of his parents.

Joseph Michael Bowers, 24, is charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault and weapons-related charges, according to a release from the Montgomery County Police Department on Monday.

In a previous release, police shared that a 24-year-old man was taken into custody following a domestic-related assault Sunday in the 6500 block of Greentree Road in which the man allegedly stabbed both parents with a knife.

According to police, officers responded to the location at about 11:50 p.m. Sunday for a reported domestic-related assault. They found Bowers’ 62-year-old mother and father suffering from multiple stab wounds outside their home. Both were taken to hospitals with serious injuries.

Police said detectives identified Bowers as the suspect and an arrest warrant was requested. He was found inside his parent’s home and was taken into custody Monday morning without incident, according to police.
