Bethesda Teenager Pleads Guilty to First Degree Murder

A Bethesda teenager pleaded guilty to first degree murder Friday for the Dec. 19, 2021 murder of Lawrence Wilson Jr., according to a spokesperson for the Montgomery County State’s Attorney.

Joshua Wright, 17, faces a maximum of 40 years in prison. He will be sentenced Oct. 12.

A trial for codefendant Antonio Lawrence  is set for Feb. 6, 2023.

Two juveniles and an 18-year-old originally were arrested in December of 2021 and charged with first degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery following the death of Lawrence, who was 33 years old and a Bethesda resident.

Charges were dropped against the 18-year-old earlier this year.

According to Montgomery County Police, officers received a call from someone with information regarding the stabbing death of a man at the Target on Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda. Later that day, Wright went to police and said he had witnessed the stabbing, according to the police report at the time of the murder.
