Blair Can’t Measure up to Wise in Playoffs for Second Straight Year

Blair fell behind early to their playoff nemesis Wise, never recovered, and lost 51-7 to end their season.

This game marked the second straight year the Pumas beat the Blazers in the quarterfinals of the class 4A playoffs. Last postseason, Wise won 62-2.

The Blazers’ first five drives yielded just one first down. Two of those drives, including their opening possession, ended in turnovers.

Wise’s defense squashed Blair’s usually potent passing attack. Blazers’ quarterback Kendell Anderson was under pressure on nearly every passing play, while Blair’s receivers had several dropped passes.

Wise capitalized on Blair’s slow start jumping out to a 28-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Senior quarterback Cortney Davis accounted for three first-half touchdowns (one passing, two rushing). He threw one more touchdown in the second half. Both of his passing touchdowns went to wide receiver Joseph Towler.

Wise advances to the semifinals and is set to face Flowers (12-0). Blair finishes the 2022 season with a 9-2 record.
