Burtonsville’s Smith Jr. getting shot with Ravens

Although he wasn’t drafted, Octavian Smith Jr. is getting his chance to make the NFL as a wide receiver after signing a contract with the Baltimore Ravens and participating in their rookie mini-camp.

Smith Jr. attended Paint Branch High School in Burtonsville before playing collegiate football at the University of Maryland.

At Paint Branch, Smith Jr. had a stellar career. He was a four-star recruit  and was named the Class 4A Montgomery County Outstanding Player of the Year in 2021.

At Maryland, Smith Jr. had over 100 career receptions and finished in Maryland’s top 20 in career catches.
