Detectives Seek Help Finding Family of Driver Killed in Single-Vehicle Collision

Police are asking the public for help finding possible family members of a 73-year-old who died Saturday in a collision at Old Columbia Pike and Dustin Road.

Robert Hugh Haas, of Windsor Mill, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).

According to police, detectives have been unable to locate any family of Haas. MCPD asks anyone with information to contact Collision Reconstruction Unit detectives at (240) 773-6620.

Fire and rescue and police responded near the intersection of Old Columbia Pike and Dustin Road in Burtonsville for a reported single-vehicle collision at about 12:15 p.m. Saturday.

According to police, Haas was driving a 2009 Hyundai Elantra northbound on Old Columbia Pike. Police said “for unknown reasons” Haas did not negotiate the traffic circle at Dustin Road and hit a retaining wall.

It is an active investigation.
