Federal Dollars Will Help CCACC Expand Health Clinic

When accepting a $1 million dollar check, CCACC Executive Director Rita Lewi thanked U.S. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen and U.S. Rep. David Trone for “your big check.”

‘We have never seen a check like this before in our 40-year history, but we know how to use it,” declared Rita Lewi, executive director of Chinese Culture and Community Service Center.

The federal legislators visited the health clinic in Gaithersburg Monday to tour the facility, which offers a one-stop health center for holistic health and wellness service for the underserved in the county, regardless of their ethnicity.

The new site will be located near the current Gaither Road facility and will be about 10,000 square feet. It will include a primary care clinic, rehabilitation center with physical therapy, occupational therapy and behavioral health, a radiology clinic, a dental clinic and a retail pharmacy space.

The clinic served 4,000 people last year, including many who came to be vaccinated and tested for COVID-19.
