A living room fire was reported on Sunday night in Silver Spring’s Village Square Apartments.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a dispatch around 11:15 p.m. and extinguished the fire. Firefighters retrieved and accounted for all four tenants.
According to officials, the fire was believed to have started from a lithium-ion battery. Frequently installed in e-bikes, smart phones and electric vehicles, fires caused by damaged lithium-ion batteries can be more difficult to extinguish.
All occupants remained unharmed. The fire was contained before spreading to nearby apartments.
