Glen Echo Park Hosts Music, Dance-Filled Folk Festival

The 41st Washington Folk Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4, at Glen Echo Park.

The free event, held by the Folklore Society of Greater Washington, celebrates a variety of folk arts in the D.C. region. It will take place from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. rain or shine.

There will be a variety of music, from bluegrass acts like Crooked Sparrow to 1930s-40s Paris hot jazz from D.C. Ambience. There will also be dance and storytelling performances and artisan crafts.

The New Sunshine Skiffle Band will continue their tradition of closing the festival on Sunday.

In addition to the many showcases, there will be a tribute to Lisa Null, a folk singer and pillar of the Folklore Society. Null programmed the festival for many years before her death in 2022.

The festival will also be honoring Peter Kraemer who died in 2022. Kraemer was a folk musician, emcee on the Palisades stage and long time member of the Folklore Society.

Because there is limited parking on-site, the Folklore Society urges visitors to take advantage of the festival shuttle from the free satellite parking at the Waverly parking lot in Bethesda.
