Gymnast DiCello Wins SEC Freshman of the Year Honors

Kayla DiCello took up gymnastics at the age of 2. Now 19, DiCello is flourishing as a world-class gymnast at the University of Florida.

Last week, the Boyds native was honored as the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Freshman of the Year. DiCello, who was myMCM’s co-athlete of the year in 2019, spoke with myMCM Director of Content Joe Yasharoff about the award and more.

DiCello told MyMCM that she is looking forward to trying to make the U.S. Olympic team for the 2024 Summer Games in Paris. She was selected as an alternate for the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
