How to remove your car from the snow and ‘icephalt’

Frozen snow can trap your vehicle in place, making it nearly impossible to get out. If your car is stuck in what may seem like “icephalt” (ice and asphalt), here’s how to free it safely, according to AAA:

  1. Break up hardened snow and ice around the car first, since frozen snow can’t be shoveled effectively.
  2. Use sand, kitty litter, salt, or place floor mats/cardboard under the drive wheels to help the tires grip ice.
  3. Ease out slowly and avoid spinning the tires.
