July 22-24 Weekend Roundup: 9 Things to Do in Montgomery County

Welcome to our Weekend Roundup of events in Montgomery County. Here are nine things to do this weekend:

Friday, July 22

Seneca Park Reptile Feeding: Fan of reptiles? Come out to the Seneca Creek State Park where you can learn about various reptiles in Maryland and feed a corn snake, box turtle, and Diamondback Terrapin. The event runs from 1-1:30 p.m. and is free to the public. The address for the park is 11950 Clopper Road, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. 

Cars & Cones: Every Friday from 5-8 p.m. The Family Room partners with Kraemer Aviation and Laytonsville Cruise In to showcase community bikes, trucks, and classic cars to the public. All are welcome! One of the Family Room’s local food trucks will also be present, as well as good music and icecream. The event is free and located at 6820 Olney Laytonsville Rd, Gaithersburg, MD 20882.

Friday Night Salsa: All out Danza is hosting a free salsa night from 6-9 p.m. at the Banneker Street Pop-up Park (Grand Park Ave, North Bethesda, MD 20852) near the Montgomery County Conference Center. Bring a friend, family member, or significant other, and learn a few moves!

Saturday, July 23

Ballet of the Thistle: At 7:30 p.m., Rockville Civic Ballet will present their “Ballet of the Thistle,” a performance with “old stories of trickery and wit, told anew.” Regular tickets are $17, and $13 for seniors and children under 12. The performance will be held at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre located at 603 Edmonston Drive, Rockville, MD 20851. 

Live Standup Comedy Show: Rock Bottom Comedy of Bethesda presents: a Laugh Riot! From 8-9:30 p.m., those who love to have a good laugh can come out to the Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery, located at 7900 Norfolk Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814. The event is $20 (cash only) and Rated R, so individuals must be 17 or older to attend. Doors to the Comedy Showroom open at 7:15 p.m. and all seats are first come first serve. 

Mr. Popper’s Penguins: Imagination Stage is performing Mr Popper’s Penguins, a musical featuring expert puppetry that tells a “wild and witty way to follow your dreams–and your convictions.” The show runs 90 minutes with intermission, and tickets are $28. Those ages 3-10 are the target audience, but any ages will enjoy. The location for Imagination Stage is 4908 Auburn Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814. A preview of the show can be viewed here

Sunday, July 24

2022 Farm Tour: 2019 marked the 30th Anniversary of the Farm Tour & Harvest Sale, but because of Covid, the tour was canceled 2020-21. Now, they’re back open! Landmade Farm Brewery will be hosting a tour from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., that’s free to the public. All ages are welcome, and food and drinks will be available for purchase. Their farm is located at 19124 Jerusalem Road, Poolesville, MD 20837. 

Gallery B Exhibit: From 12-5 p.m., Gallery B will display artist Megan Elizabeth’s exhibit “Oceans”. The building is located at 7700 Wisconsin Ave E, Bethesda, MD 20814, and free to the public. The show is open from now until August 6, Wednesdays – Fridays from 1-6 p.m. and Saturdays from 12-5 p.m.

Bethesda Central Farm Market: Hosting more than 100 vendors, the Bethesda Central Farm Market is one of the biggest in the region. Featuring children’s activities, music, chef demos, and more, the market is a great event for people of all ages. It’s open all year round, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at 7600 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD 20814. A list of farms and products can be found here
