‘Salsa in the Parks’ Events Feature Live Music, Free Dance Lessons

Salsa in the Parks is a series of outdoor dance parties showcasing the dance moves and lively sounds of Latin music. The events, hosted by Montgomery Parks, feature live music, salsa dancing, food from local vendors and a selection of craft beers from local breweries.  Admission, music and the dance lesson are free. The events are family-friendly.

The events take place monthly on select Thursday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. at local parks in the county. A free dance lesson provided by Salsa with Silvia with dance instructor Yoii Moore takes place from 5 to 6 p.m.

Following the dance lesson, the band La Colombopercutiva performs live from 6 to 8 p.m.

El Cumpa Chilean Food Truck and Clayboys Shave Ice will provide refreshments for purchase.
Craft beer from the Waredaca Brewing Company will be available for purchase.

Thursday, Aug. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Wheaton Forest Local Park
1700 University Boulevard West
Charlie’s Empanadas, Churros, Inc. and Clayboys Shave Ice will provide refreshments for purchase.
Craft beer from the True Respite Brewing Co. will be available for purchase.

Thursday, Sept. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m.
Long Branch-Arliss Neighborhood Park
8810 Garland Avenue
Silver Spring
Charlie’s Empanadas, Churros, Inc. and Clayboys Shave Ice will provide refreshments for purchase.
Craft beer from the the Silver Branch Brewing Company will be available for purchase.

Rules and Guidelines

Residents who plan to attend any of the events need to be aware of a few rules and regulations. The events are free and open to all ages. Registration is not required to attend. Restrooms are available.

Parking is limited.

Pets are allowed but must be kept on a leash at all times.

Residents are encourage to bring their own chairs or blankets as there will only be limited seating provides.

Drinks with alcohol are only allowed inside the event space and parks staff will provide wristbands to guests after checking a photo ID. Guests are not allowed to take alcohol with them when exiting the event. Guests are not allowed to bring their own alcoholic beverages to the event.

Smoking is prohibited.
