Juvenile Charged with Setting Poolesville Playground Fire

A juvenile was arrested in connection with a playground fire in Poolesville Sunday. The juvenile was released to the custody of his family.

The fire occurred on Fisher Avenue near Milford Mill Road and resulted in a loss of $75,000.

There were no injuries from the fire.

According to Pete Piringer, spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services, the youth is believed to have used a paper bag and sandwich container to set a fire beneath the playground equipment. That fire ignited the playground’s rubber mulch and damaged the equipment.
