MCPS Seeks Feedback on Inclement Weather Communication, CEO Program and School Menus”

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is surveying staff, students and the community to gather feedback on three topics—inclement weather communication, the Community Engagement Officer (CEO) Program and school menus. The surveys only take a few minutes to complete.

Inclement Weather Communication

Bad weather may force MCPS to delay the opening of schools, close schools early or cancel classes.

The school district is seeking feedback on how it communicates school closures and the actions to take when makeup days must be utilized. The survey is available in eight languages and should only take five minutes to complete.

Community Engagement Officer (CEO) 2.0 Program

Montgomery County Police officers, serving as Community Engagement Officers (CEOs), work directly with the schools. The county continues to work to review the existing CEO program and to improve school safety and security.

In response to concerns raised about the previous School Resource Officers (SRO) program, the current Community Engagement Officer program was launched in 2022. The most significant change is that the CEO program does not have police officers stationed in county high schools. Each high school cluster partners with one officer who may be called upon by the school leadership.

The survey is available in English and Spanish and takes about five minutes to complete

School Menus

The Division of Food and Nutrition Services (DFNS) is collecting feedback on what students enjoy and would like to see more of on school menus. The survey is available in eight languages.

You can find the current menus and additional information about DFNS here.
