Valentine’s Day Celebration Events

This Valentine’s Day, celebrate with family, friends and loved ones with these local activities. Ranging from romantic movies to dog-painting, these events are perfect for the last-minute planner or anyone who wants to change up their usual Valentine’s plans.

Movies

See a classic romantic movie such as Sabrina, It Happened One Night, Roman Holiday, or His Girl Friday at the historic AFI Silver Theater and Cultural Center, or switch it up with Scott Pilgrim Versus the World. The Majestic Theater is also showing popular new releases such as Dune or the family-friendly Peppa’s Cinema Party

Art

Take a walk around Silver Spring to see the more than 50 pieces of public art, including a sculpture of the Greek legend Sisyphus, a BioWall featuring an educational video installation and a steel wind sculpture called the Bolero Ballerinas. 

Pike and Rose’s “Bark Social” — an off-leash dog park that doubles as a coffee shop and beer garden — is offering a sunset paint and sip night on Feb. 14 where attendees can enjoy drinks and paint a pre-sketched design of their four-legged friend. 

For music lovers, the Bettie Mae Kramer Gallery is hosting a jazz performance by Darden Purcell and Paul Bratcher the evening of Feb. 14, and the Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center is hosting an Ethiopian music performance on Feb. 15 and an Italian guitar duo on Feb. 18. 

Those more inclined to dancing can enjoy a free Afrobeat dance class from the Maryland Youth Ballet. The diverse style of dance originated in Sub-Saharan Africa and is an evolution from the traditional African dance styles.  

Entertainment

Rockville restaurant Nosh Grill House features a karaoke bar, a 12-foot screen, a hefty cocktail menu and grills northern Chinese cuisine right at your table. 

Grab food, drink and entertainment at Silver Branch Brewing, which is offering trivia on Feb. 14, and Third Hill Brewing, which will host trivia nights starting Feb. 15.
