Metro Seeking Artwork From Students to be Featured on Metrobus

Metro’s Art in Transit program is asking kindergarten through sixth-grade students from D.C., Maryland and Virginia to submit 2-D artwork for a chance to be featured on a special bus wrap during Metro’s Earth Day celebration.

The artwork must bring attention to public transportation’s role in “…protecting our environment, combatting climate change, and supporting sustainable livable communities,” according to the program.

Each student can send one original drawing, painting or print that has not been exhibited before to metroart@wmata.com by Wednesday, March 1 at 11:59 p.m. Submissions should be JPEG or PDF files labeled with the student’s last name, first name, the title of the work, full school name and grade.

Any K-6 public, private or homeschooled student is eligible and entry is free. Additional instructions for submission can be found on Metro’s website.

The winner from each jurisdiction will be announced on Wednesday, March 8. Selected works should be delivered by mail to the Metro Headquarters by March 10 to be printed on the bus wrap.
