Monday Maryland Reports Lowest COVID-19 Positivity Rate at 2.75%, Montgomery at 2.4%

The Maryland Department of Health reported 63 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Monday. That brings the cumulative case count to 21,877 since the start of the pandemic.

The county had a rolling seven-day average of 2.4% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a lower rate than 12 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.

Since Sunday no new deaths were added to the county’s coronavirus related death toll, which remains at 798. Montgomery County continues to lead the state in deaths. Prince George’s County leads the state in cases with 28,629 and has a death toll of 793.

The state recorded 412 new infections Monday, bringing its total to 120,568. Four new deaths were reported Monday, making the pandemic death toll 3,739. Baltimore City, Charles and Washington Counties all reported one death Monday. Information was not available for one of the four deaths.

The rolling seven-day average for positive COVID-19 testes continues a downward trend. Sunday the state reported a rate of 2.85% followed by 2.75% Monday. This is the first time the state’s average rate dropped below 3% since the start of the pandemic.
