(Update): Police identified the decedent as 40-year-old Hector Luis Betancourt-Rivera of Rockville.
According to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), a driver in a 2019 Jeep Limited was making a u-turn from westbound Veirs Mill Road to continue eastbound on the roadway. Betancourt-Rivera, operating a 2016 Suzuki GSX R 600L motorcycle, was going eastbound on Veirs Mill Road and collided with the back of the Jeep, police stated.
MCPD asks anyone with information to contact Collision Reconstruction Unit detectives at 240-773-6620.
(Original): Police said a motorcyclist died in a collision Sunday on Veirs Mill Road.
Officers and fire and rescue personnel responded to the 12800 block of Veirs Mill Road in Rockville at about 7:57 p.m. Sunday for a reported fatal collision involving a motorcycle and vehicle, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
The man driving the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the vehicle stayed on scene, according to police.
MCPD is investigating.
The name of the deceased will be released after notifying next of kin.
