Pedestrian pronounced dead following Rockville crash

The pedestrian fatally injured in Rockville Sunday evening was identified by Montgomery County Police as Harry George Kazanjian, 69, of Silver Spring.

At about 6:30 p.m., Montgomery County and Rockville City police as well as county fire and rescue personnel investigated the report of a collision at the intersection of Norbeck Road and Avery Road.

The initial investigation revealed that Kazanjian was crossing Norbeck Road from Avery Road toward the eastbound shoulder when, for reasons still under investigation, he was struck by the driver of a 2006 the Chrysler Town and Country minivan, which was traveling eastbound on Norbeck Road through the intersection.

Kazanjian was pronounced dead at the scene.

A pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene following a crash Sunday at the intersection of Norbeck and Avery roads in Rockville.

A 2006 Chevy van was being driven north on Norbeck Road at 6:30 p.m. when the driver struck an adult male, according to Montgomery County Police. The driver remained on the scene.

Police expect to release more information following notification of next of kin.
