Police Department Mourns Loss of 30-Year Veteran

The Montgomery County Police Department announced the loss of Sergeant Gregory Jordan who passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday. He was 61. Information about the cause of death was not immediately available.

Starting his career in the Major Crimes Division in 1992, Jordan served the department and citizens of Montgomery County for 30 years. He was promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2013, a position that he maintained up until his passing.

At the time of his passing, Sgt. Jordan was assigned to the 3rd District station and worked in the White Oak neighborhood.

“This is an incredible loss for our department, the Montgomery County community, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside Sergeant Jordan,” said Chief Marcus Jones. “Please keep his family, friends and colleagues in your hes and honor the memory of Sergeant Gregory Jordan.”

“Today we lost a true public servant, Sergeant Gregory Jordan, who dedicated thirty years of his life to serving and protecting the people of Montgomery County,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “He will be greatly missed, and I extend my sincere sympathy to his colleagues in the 3rd District, and MCPD, as well as his family.”
