Secretary of State Lee is Maryland’s Ambassador

Susan Lee has been a state delegate and senator in District 16 and now is Maryland’s Secretary of State, which she described as the state’s ambassador.

Lee said she was “pleasantly surprised, I was honored” to be chosen for the role by Gov. Wes Moore.

U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin invited Lee as his guest to Biden’s 2023 State of the Union address, calling her “a fiercely dedicated advocate for children, families and underserved communities, a model public servant, and a cherished friend.”

Lee is a Potomac native and graduate of Winston Churchill High School. She is an attorney and the daughter of a World War II U.S. Navy veteran who is a retired Washington Post artist. She attended The University of Maryland, College Park and the University of San Francisco School of Law.
