Several Fires Reported in Montgomery County

Several fires were reported in Montgomery County on Tuesday after the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a fire weather warning for the area.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Red Flag Warning Tuesday for critical fire weather conditions.

There was a small brush fire in the 19800 block of Observation Drive by the entrance to Holy Cross Hospital in Germantown, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer reported at 12:30 p.m. on Twitter.

At 12:43 p.m., Piringer reported a brush/stump was on fire around Sligo Bennington Park in the 500 block of Bennington Drive near Pershing Drive in Silver Spring.

Around 2:45 p.m., there was a large patch of bamboo burning at 300 Scott Drive near Vierling Drive and Mills Drive in Silver Spring, according to Piringer. 

There was a brush/grass fire in Gaithersburg at Decoverly Drive and Fields Road, Piringer reported at 3:38 p.m. About 10 minutes later he reported a small brush fire in Germantown at Swiss Circle and Chalet Drive.

Then, also in Germantown, bushes were reportedly on fire at 19900 Century Blvd. near Crystal Rock Drive in the area of the Chick-fil-A across from Carrabba’s Italian Grill.
