Rockville City rewards children for being “terrific kids who do good deeds” with their own free bicycles.
Residents in grades one through five need to prove they demonstrate “trustworthiness, earnestness, respect, responsibility, involvement, fairness, industriousness and care.”
Those who complete at least six out of 16 good deeds – like volunteering at a local charity, helping a neighbor or keeping a clean school environment – can get their own refurbished bicycle and helmet.
To qualify, registration by Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Since there are a limited number of free bicycles, terrific kids should apply as soon as possible. Once the forms are submitted, additional information on how to track and submit the good deeds will be sent by email on March 2.
For questions or more information, call 240-314-8620 or email registration@rockvillemd.gov. Information is also available at rockvillemd.gov/terrificbikes.
The program also accepts bicycle donations. Donated bicycles are refurbished and awarded to participants. To donate a bicycle, contact Rockville Bike Hub at rockvillebikehub@gmail.com. Visit rockvillebikehub.org for information.
