2 Men Arrested for Trying to Steal Ride-On Bus

29-year-old Ricko Ford of Capitol Heights and 30-year-old Wayne Pitt of Gaithersburg were arrested on Friday for attempting to steal a Ride-On Metrobus in Wheaton.

About 12:30 p.m. officers from the 4th District responded to the area of Connecticut Avenue and Georgia Avenue in Wheaton for a reported carjacking.

According to a press release from MCPD, the bus driver picked up the suspects at the Glenmont Metro Station. They told him they wanted to go to Greenbelt. He informed them the bus was headed to Westfield Montgomery mall. The suspects then told the driver they wanted to take over the bus. That’s when the bus driver got off the bus and walked away. The suspects then attempted to drive off.

When officers arrived moments later, they saw Ford and Pitt with bottles of alcohol in the front of the bus. They ordered the pair to leave the bus and they were taken into custody.

At Central Processing, Ford and Pitt were charged with attempted carjacking, theft, disorderly conduct and intoxicated public disturbance related charges.
