Weekend Roundup: 9 Things to Do in Montgomery County

Welcome to our Weekend Roundup of events in Montgomery County. Here are nine things to do this weekend, June 24-26.

Friday, June 24

Pride on the Field: The Montgomery County Recreation Department and Unmatched Athlete are partnering to host a day of outdoor games and sports for LGBTQ+ teens. The event is at the White Oak Community Recreation Center from noon to 4:30 p.m. Free tickets must be reserved.

Pride in the Park: Movie Date Night: At 7 p.m., bring a blanket and a friend to enjoy a screening of Saturday Church. The film is being shown at Jesup Blair Park with free parking available at the Montgomery County Community College West Garage. You can bring your own food and drinks or buy refreshments from Astro Lab Brewing and an on-site food vendor. The event is free and open to the public.

Summer Beer and Wine Garden: Caribbean Night: The Sandy Spring Museum is kicking off their Summer Beer and Wine Garden series with Caribbean Night. Enjoy lawn games, local beer and wine, and live music by steelpan performer Domenic Lewis. For more information about registration and the vendors, click here.

Saturday, June 25

Summer Mercado: The Summer Mercado is being held on Anne Street in Takoma Park and will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. It will host world cuisine, craft vendors, and live music. For more information about the performers and vendors, click here.

Heritage Days: Glen Echo Scavenger Hunt: A scavenger hunt will take place at Glen Echo Park and will give kids the opportunity to learn about the park’s arts programs and history. The kids can draw what they imagine the park to look like in the future and the scavenger hunt cards can be submitted for a special prize.

Bark Social Semifinal Drag Duels: The Drag lip sync showdown is heating up with the contestants trying to make it to the Finale. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bark Social in North Bethesda. Tickets and dog registration forms can be found here.

 

Sunday, June 26

Rockville Pride Festival: From 2 to 4 p.m., Rockville Town Square is hosting the sixth annual Rockville Pride event. It will be free for all ages and will include live performances, activities for kids, and informational booths.

Heritage Days: Button Farm: Button Farm will be hosting some Heritage Days events including a book signing for A Culinary History of Montgomery County, MD from noon to 4 p.m. This will be followed by a presentation by Claudia Kousoulas and Ellen Letourneau about the county’s food traditions.

Glen Echo Visions and Voices Exhibit: The Glen Echo Art Glass Center is hosting the Visions and Voices Exhibit showing the many different possibilities and ranges of glass artistry from sculptures to jewelry. The exhibit runs from noon to 6 p.m. and is free to the public.
