The incredible season for the Walt Whitman High School girls basketball team continued by claiming the Montgomery County title, beating Richard Montgomery 67-59 in Rockville.
The Vikings improve to a school record 20-0 and now will set their sights on the regional playoffs. They have a bye in the opening round.
The Maryland high school girls basketball playoffs begin Feb. 28 with the MPSSAA regional first round. The state tournament starts March 7.

Meanwhile, James Hubert Blake High School repeated as boys county champions, beating Walt Whitman 67-55 in Rockville. Even without top prospect Baba Oladotun, the Bengals rolled to a 20-3 record. Oladotun has not played all season due to an ankle injury.
Blake will have a bye in the opening round of the regional playoffs. The Maryland high school boys basketball playoffs start Feb. 27 with the MPSSAA regional first round. The state tournament begins on March 6.
