5 Things to Know Today, April 19, In Montgomery County

It’s Tuesday, April 19, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1.Montgomery County Council: Councilmember will meet at 9 a.m. to review legislation creating a police accountability board, legislation expanding environmental benchmarking and establishing building energy performance standards and appropriations to provide wellness centers in all MCPS high schools.

2. Public Hearings: Montgomery County Operating Budget for FY 2023. 

The public hearings will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, and Wednesday, April 20, and at 7 p.m. on April 19, 20 and Thursday, April 21.

3. Montgomery Planning: Virtual event at 6:00 p.m.  Montgomery Planning will be holding an online presentation to the community for the Fairland and Briggs Chaney Master Plan update.

4. Josiah Henson Museum and Park: The museum turns one this week.

5. MCPL: Free virtual author talks. Today Eman Quotah, from 6-7 p.m. Quotah will discuss her novel “Bride of the Sea.”
