1. Agricultural Fair: The 73rd Annual Montgomery County Agricultural Fair closes Saturday at midnight. There are still two days to enjoy the fair food, carnival rides, animal exhibits and so much more.

2. Primary Election Update: The Board of Elections starts the recount of the County Executive Democratic primary today at 9:30 a.m. The public may join the meeting on Zoom or in person. Recount sessions will continue daily until the process is complete.

3. Tax Free Week: Maryland’s Tax free Week continues through Saturday, Aug. 20 to help families with back-to-school shopping. Maryland’s six percent sales tax is not collected for qualifying items including clothing, footwear, and some school items.

4. Back-to-School Community Event: The 14th Annual Ice Cream Social for Charity takes place Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at the Park Potomac Plaza near 12500 Park Potomac Avenue. The free event features music, food, and fun activities for all ages. Attendees are asked to bring a new backpack to donate to benefit families served by Interfaith Works.
