5 Things to Know Today, Dec. 6, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, Dec. 6 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Pet Night with Santa: Westfield Wheaton is inviting pet owners to bring their furry friends to meet and take pictures with Santa. The event is today from 4 to 7 p.m. Pets must be leashed or caged and only dogs and cats are allowed to attend. Donations to the Humane Society will also be collected at the event.

2. Montgomery County Consumer Protection Office 50th Anniversary Celebration: The public is invited to help celebrate 50 years of service from the Montgomery County OCP. The celebration will be held today in the Council Office Building’s first-floor auditorium in Rockville at 1:30 p.m.

3. Coffee With a Cop: Montgomery Parks Police will be at Starbucks on Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring today to meet the public and hear any concerns.

4. MCPL ‘What you Need to Know about Medicare’ Session: On Tuesday, Dec. 7, Montgomery County Public Libraries is hosting a free virtual session that will give an overview of Medicare benefits, eligibility, enrollment, costs and coverage, as well as information on Medicare savings programs, Medicare fraud, protection and local services. 5. Garden of Lights at Brookside Gardens: Montgomery Parks’ and Brookside Gardens’ winter-season tradition is open every night through Jan. 2, 2022, except Dec. 24 and 25. Tickets are $10 per person for ages three and older.
