5 Things to Know Today, Dec. 8, In Montgomery County

1. Partial Metro Red Line Shutdown: Metro’s Red Line rail service will not operate between Grosvenor and Shady Grove stations this weekend (Dec. 9-10) for maintenance. There will be free shuttle bus service between the closed stations.

3. Car and Computer Sales: Students attending MCPS trades automotive and computer trades classes will sell refurbished cars and computers Saturday, Dec. 9. The sale takes place from 9-11 a.m. at Gaithersburg High School located at 101 Education Blvd.

4. Urban Wood Sale: Montgomery Parks will hold the third annual wood sale Saturday and Sunday. The sale offers woodworkers and craftspeople the chance to purchase wood salvaged from county parks and this year includes wood from the Linden Oak.

5.Kesher Cafe: The Jewish Council on Aging (JCA) launches a new program this weekend that will meet monthly on Sundays. The Kesher Cafe is a free program for those with dementia diagnosed prior to age 65 and their care partners. The first social is a paint and sip event with artist Patricia DuBroof scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. at the JCA located at 12320 Parklawn Drive in Rockville.
