Today is Friday, Jan. 20. Here is the 10 day forecast and 5 things to know today as we head into the weekend.

1. Food Distribution: Two distributions are scheduled for today. First, the Upcounty hub food distribution is at Mother Seton Parish, 19951 Father Hurley Blvd., Germantown from 9 to 10 a.m. Click here for more information. Second, the East county hub food distribution at 17 Feather Ct., Silver Spring from 12612 Galway Dr., Silver Spring is open from 1 to 2 p.m. For more information click here.

2. Vaccination Clinics: COVID-19 vaccinations are available this weekend at six schools from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Appointments are encouraged and available online at the public schools’ vaccinations webpage.

3. Lunar New Year: The Lunar New Year – also commonly known as Chinese New Year – begins Sunday, Jan. 22 and marks the beginning of the Year of the Rabbit.

4. Summer Camp Fair:  Montgomery Recreation hosts a fair Sunday, Jan. 22 from 1-4 p.m. at the North Potomac Community Recreation Center.

5. MCM Summer Camps for Youth: We are offering a series of media summer camps for youth ages 12+. Teens will become masters of web series development, field reporting, video editing, and more. Not only will students develop media skills, they’ll also build teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skills. Check out our classes taught in person in our Silver Spring Media Lab.
