5 Things to Know Today, Jan. 27, in Montgomery County

Today is Wednesday, Jan. 27 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Weekly COVID-19 Media Briefing: County Executive Marc Elrich, County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles and Emergency Management Director Dr. Earl Stoddard will hold their weekly media briefing at 12:30 p.m. You can watch live on MCM channels 21 and 995 (HD), County Cable Montgomery and on the county’s Facebook and YouTube channels.

2. Council Committees in Session:  Two Montgomery County Council committee meetings will be held virtually today: the Government Operations and Fiscal Policy (GO) Committee at 9:30 a.m. and the Education and Culture/ Health and Human Services (E&C/HHS) Committees at 1:30 p.m. See agendas here. The meetings will be televised on County Cable Montgomery and live-streamed on the council’s Facebook and Youtube channels.

3. COVID-19 Testing: Free COVID-19 testing is available throughout the county at seven testing sites today. The schedule of clinics may be found here.

4. Baby Panda Cam: From 1-1:15 p.m., the Smithsonian’s National Zoo will livestream from inside the habitat of giant panda cub Xiao Qi Ji.

5. Senior Planet Montgomery: Senior Planet Montgomery continues to offer free Zoom classes to senior residents. Today’s classes include “Google Workspace” and “What It Means to Be News Literate.”
