5 Things to Know Today, March 14, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, March 14, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Council President Media Briefing: Council President Gabe Albornoz will hold a media briefing today at 11:30 a.m. Council President Albornoz will provide updates on the Council’s Tuesday meeting. Deputy Health Officer Dr. James Bridgers will provide a public health update. The briefing will be streamed on the Council’s Facebook page here.

2. Council Committee Meetings: The Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) committee meets today at 9:30 a.m., find the agenda here and watch the meeting streamed live on YouTube here.  At 1:30 p.m. the Education and Culture (E&C) and the Transportation and Environment (T&E) committees meet at 1:30 p.m. Watch both live on YouTube: E&C meeting and T&E meeting.

3. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet for a work session tonight at 7:30 p.m. The agenda and information packet are posted. The Kensington Town Council meets at 7 p.m. Here’s the agenda. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet in closed session at 7 p.m. to obtain legal advice regarding the I-495 and I-270 Managed Lane Study.

4. Dewey Dog Park Closure:  One week from today, the Dewey Dog Park in Silver Spring will close for annual maintenance. It is scheduled to be closed from March 21-25.

5. COVID-19 Test Kits and N95 Masks:The libraries continue to distribute COVID-19 test kits and N95 masks. Residents may stop by their whenever the library is open and pick up the kits and masks.
