1. DC Water begins restoration from the Potomac sewage spill: DC Water begins cleanup work at the site of the Potomac Interceptor collapse. The 240-million-gallon sewage spill into the river posed a major public health threat for the region, according to the Potomac Riverkeeper Network. The work follows approval from the National Park Service of a restoration plan.
2. Education budget forum: From 6:30-8 p.m. at Rockville High School, County Councilmember Will Jawando, who is chair of the council’s Education and Culture Committee, will host an education budget forum for the public. MCPS Superintendent Thomas Taylor, Ed.D., and Montgomery College President Jermaine Williams, Ed.D. will join. See more here
3. Costco to anchor Viva White Oak Development in East County: Costco will be moving into Viva White Oak Development District, a $2.8 billion project with a two year plus timeline for completion.
4. Bethesda adds pre-professional men’s soccer team: Soccer has long been a mainstay sport in Montgomery County. Bethesda Soccer Club is one of the organizations that has been home to countless players and teams since it started in 1979. Now, the club is taking its development of players one step further. The club is establishing a pre-professional Bethesda men’s team that will compete in the United Soccer League Two this summer.
