5 Things to Know Today, March 8, In Montgomery County

It’s Tuesday, March 8, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1.Mask Mandate/MCPS: The Board of Education is expected to vote today at 3:30 p.m. on whether to make masks optional in schools. The vote comes following the Maryland Joint Committee on Administrative, Executive, and Legislative Review vote on Feb. 25 to rescind the state emergency mask mandate.

2. Montgomery County Council: Councilmembers will meet today starting at 9:00 a.m. with a Moment of Silence recognizing Montgomery County’s two-year battle against COVID-19, by Council President Albornoz.

3. Public Hearing: Bill 4-22 would require an all-gender, single-user restroom to be available in public or county-owned facilities, today at 1:30 p.m.

4. The Universities at Shady Grove: Virtual session today Computing, Engineering & Information Technology from 5:30 to 7 p.m on zoom.
