5 Things to Know Today, Sept. 3, In Montgomery County

Today is Friday, Sept. 3 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Outdoor Family Storytime:  The county libraries and BlackRock Center for the Arts host a family storytime on the outdoor stage in Germantown from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Bring a blanket or towel to sit on. If it is raining, call BlackRock center for the Arts at 301-528-2260 for the status.

2. Glen Echo Labor Day Art Show:  The 50th Annual Labor Day Art Show will be held in the historic Spanish Ballroom from Saturday through Monday from noon to 6 p.m. An opening reception will be held Friday from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

3. Rockville Arts Festival:  The Rockville Arts Festival celebrates outstanding visual artists, live music and cultural performances, and art demonstrations by VisArts’ professional artists. The festival will take place on Gibbs Street on: Saturday, September 4th – Sunday, September 5th from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

4. Metro Bus and Train Service Changes: The hours and number of buses and trains running on weekends will increase and fares will decrease starting Sunday.

5. Labor Day Picnic and Fireworks:   The City of Gaithersburg celebrates Labor Day weekend Sunday with a fireworks display that starts at 8 p.m. at Bohrer Park.
