Three Suspects Arrested for Stolen Vehicle, Gun, and Drug Offenses in Gaithersburg

According to the Gaithersburg Police Department, three suspects were arrested and charged for stolen vehicle, gun and drug offenses on Tuesday.

18-year-old Dewaun Matthew Jordan of Gaithersburg faces charges for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and conspiracy to commit auto theft. 17-year-old Jvar Rashad Allen and 16-year-old Tejion James Jones are both being charged as adults with offenses that include vehicle theft and possession of a handgun, according to a press release from police.

On September 22, shortly before 11:00 p.m., police responded to a call for a possible residential burglary on Sunnyside Court. Upon arrival, officers were advised that there were possibly two armed suspects involved and that the suspects left in an orange Volkswagen SUV. An officer spotted the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver fled in the SUV. Officers pursued the vehicle onto Central Avenue and Oakmont Avenue, where it crashed. Authorities say both the driver and the passenger fled on foot.

After an extensive search with the use of K9’s, officers from the Montgomery County Police Department, and assistance from a Maryland State Police helicopter, the suspects were seen heading towards Nina Court. Gaithersburg Police officers observed a silver Acura leaving the area at a high rate of speed. When officers attempted a traffic stop, the driver fled in the vehicle towards Bralan Lane. The three occupants then got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, all three occupants were placed under arrest. During a search of the suspects, a handgun was located on each of Jones and Allen’s waistbands.

A computer check of the orange Volkswagen’s license plate revealed that it had been reported stolen earlier that day in Gaithersburg. Further investigation revealed no residential burglary had occurred, but the suspects possibly committed theft from other vehicles.

All three suspects are currently being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center. Bond information is unavailable at this time, according to police. Mug shots of Allen and Jones were not released because they are juveniles.
