Former band member charged with attempted murder of bandmate’s father

A Burtonsville area man, who was formerly in the band Turnstile, has been charged with attempted second-degree murder for allegedly hitting his bandmate’s father with his car.

Brady O’Brien Ebert, 33, had an argument Sunday with his 78-year-old neighbor in his neighbor’s driveway on Timberlake Drive in Burtonsville, according to Montgomery County police.

Ebert is a former guitarist for the band Turnstile based in Baltimore. The band issued a statement saying that the band cut ties with Ebert in 2022 due to a pattern of harmful behavior. According to the statement, the victim in the hit-and-run is the father of Brendan Yates, singer for the band.

During the argument “for reasons still under investigation,” Ebert struck his neighbor with his 2001 Buick before leaving the scene, according to police, d. Police said Ebert did not contact 911 or give aid.

The victim had serious injuries, including a broken leg, according to police.

While searching the area, officers found the suspect’s Buick unoccupied with front-end damage on Old Columbia Pike. It was towed to a police station for evidence processing.

Surveillance footage from the area caught the hit-and-run on camera, according to police.

Ebert was arrested Tuesday in his neighborhood. He is being held without bond.
