Montgomery County police and fire-rescue crews responded to a man in crisis June 1 in Boyds after the individual temporarily left custody en route to a medical evaluation, according to police.
Bystander video of the incident recorded on the scene and later circulated on social media, showed several officers and fire-rescue personnel attempting to restrain the man in the 29100 block of Frederick Road in Boyds. They were attempting to take him to a nearby hospital, according to officer reports from MCPD’s 5th District.
The man’s trousers can be seen falling off of his body during the tussle with what appears in the video to be a half dozen law enforcement officials.
When officers attempted to handcuff and place the man into an ambulance, he allegedly broke free of custody and ran toward the road.
Police then restrained him again and placed him in handcuffs.
The man was eventually transported to the hospital for further evaluation. No further details on his state have been released.
