About 50 firefighters worked to bring a Germantown house fire under control. It caused an estimated $100,000 in damage and left the homeowner displaced. No people were hurt.
The Germantown house fire was spotted by a neighbor who reported smoke coming from the home in the 20100 block of Club Hill Drive around 5:15 p.m., according to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters arrived to find a kitchen fire that had already spread to the second floor. The homeowner wasn’t there.
Inside, crews found two dogs. One walked out on its own. The other, a large dog, wasn’t breathing. A firefighter performed resuscitation on the spot, and the dog survived. Damage to the home was rated moderate.
