5 Things to Know Today, Jan. 25, In Montgomery County

It’s Tuesday, January 25, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Montgomery County Council Session: Council Members meet today starting at 9:00 a.m.

The Council meeting is conducted remotely via Zoom and will be televised live on County Cable Montgomery (Xfinity channels 6 and 996, RCN channels 6 and 1056; and FiOS channel 30). 2. Human Trafficking Month: Today the Montgomery County Human Trafficking Prevention Committee will partner with the Prince George’s County Human Trafficking Task Force, the Homeless Persons Representation Project, and Amara Legal Center to present an online discussion entitled, “Know Your Rights: Tools for 2022.” The online presentation is free and begins at 5 p.m. No registration is needed. 3. History Conference: 16th annual Montgomery County History Conference 2022. This year the conference will take place virtually over nine days from January 21-29, offering opportunities to take part online, including three keynote sessions, twelve breakout sessions, a film screening, and a Trivia Night.

4. Know Your Rights: The Maryland Commission for Civil Rights is organizing workshops for teens and young adults in the areas of employment discrimination, housing discrimination and public accommodations discrimination. The event is virtual today from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
