Council At-Large Candidate Laurie-Anne Sayles on Verge of Being Part of Historic Majority

Former Gaithersburg City councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles (D) is on the verge of becoming part of a historic majority on the Montgomery County Council. Six women including Sayles (out of 11 seats) are expected to win their Council races.

Sayles spoke to MyMCM on election night.

With 248 of 258 election day precincts reported as of 12:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sayles has received 19.13% of the vote thus far, putting her in second place for four at-large openings.

After the polls closed Tuesday, some Democratic candidates and school board candidates joined an election night party at South House Garden in Gaithersburg.
