Five Things to Know for Feb. 7 in Montgomery County

Expect rain in the morning. A dense fog advisory is in effect until 8 a.m. today. Here are five things to know in Montgomery County for Feb. 7.

1. Coffee With a Cop: Montgomery County Police officers from the Silver Spring district station are meeting with residents from 9 until 11 a.m. at the Bump ‘n Grind located at 1200 East West Highway in Silver Spring.

2. School Communication Survey: Montgomery County Public Schools are asking parents, guardians, staff, students and community members to complete a survey on communication preferences. The survey is open from now through Friday, Feb. 28.

3. Black History Month: Many organizations in the county are hosting programs and events on the history and role of African Americans in the community. Throughout the month, MCM will have Black History Month feature stories.

4. Brews and Bulbs:  Staff from the County’s Department of Environmental Protection will be at 7 Locks Brewing in Rockville today from 5 to 7 p.m. where you can swap out old incandescent or CFL light bulbs for up to four free LED light bulbs.

5. Intercounty Connector Weekend Closure:  The eastbound lanes of the ICC will be detoured at Shady Grove Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
