1. County Council Approves Budget:  The Council unanimously approved the $5.8 billion operating budget Thursday.

2. Montgomery College Commencement Ceremony:  Nearly three thousand Montgomery College students graduate today at 10 a.m. Watch the virtual ceremony streamed live on Facebook or YouTube.

3. Business Briefing: Council President Sidney Katz hosts the fourth in a series of weekly business and economic development briefings at 12:30 p.m.  Lesley MacDonald, executive director of Nonprofit Montgomery and Alice Nappy, executive director of VisArts join Katz for the briefing.  Email to register for the zoom meeting and submit questions.

4. Virtual Town Hall in Spanish: Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich and other officials will answer questions today at 7 p.m.

5. Gaithersburg Book Festival: Three events take place this weekend. Watch TGIF Live! today at 5:30 p.m. as the author of “Courting Mr. Lincoln,” Louis Bayard talks with Jennifer Bort Yacovissi. The Saturday Night Premiere features Jonathan Karl, author of “Front Row at the Trump Show,” in conversation with Susan Page Saturday at 7 p.m. A live conversation with Adam Gidwitz, author of “Unicorn Rescue Society #5: The Madre de Aguas of Cuba,”  takes place Sunday, May 24 at 11 a.m.
