Five Things to Know Today, Dec. 14, in Montgomery County

Today is Monday, Dec. 14, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. COVID-19 Testing: Free walk-in and drive-through COVID-19 testing are available throughout the county at six testing sites today. The schedule of clinics may be found here.

2. Workshops for Job Seekers:  The libraries are offering free online workshops and one-on-one sessions to assist job seekers throughout December. Learn about best practices for conducting a job search in the current pandemic job market today from 1 to 3 p.m.

3. Municipal Monday: Gaithersburg’s Mayor and Council meet virtually at 7:30 p.m. for a work session on the next steps in the Lakeforest Master Plan Process. Here’s the agenda and review of the Lakeforest Master Plan. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet virtually at 6 p.m. The agenda may be found here.  Mayor Bridget Newton and Councilmember Pierzchala will be available at 5:15 p.m. to meet with residents. Sign up online by 2 p.m. for the Drop-In session. The Commissioners of the Town of Poolesville meet in a closed session at 6:30 p.m.

4. Montgomery Planning Listening Session: Montgomery Planning is working on an update to the Silver Spring Downtown and Adjacent Communities Plan. Tonight at 7:30 p.m. the planning team virtually holds a listening session with the community to hear thoughts and ideas about the plan area.

5. Policing Advisory Commission:  The Montgomery County Council created this commission in 2019 with the mission to advise the Council on policing matters. The commission meets today from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Here is the agenda for the meeting.
